Jack Zhou, President

Master Energy Advisor, Quality Assurance Specialist, CHBA Net Zero Energy Advisor & Trainer

Jack began his building science journey in 2004 with hands-on experience in low-rise residential construction, mastering a variety of skills, including framing, drywalling, and installing Hi-Velocity ductwork. This hands-on experience ignited his passion for energy-efficient housing, leading him to earn designations as a HRAI Residential Air System Design Technician and Residential Hydronics Design Technician. 

20+ years later, Jack is now regarded as one of Canada’s most trusted experts in energy efficient housing. In addition to his role as a Board of Director at the Canadian Associations of Consulting Energy Advisors, he actively contributes to the industry by serving on:

  • The Technical Committee for the Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA)
  • The Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) – Net Zero Renovations Advisory Group
  • EnergQuality Corp

Jerry li, Director of technical services

Jerry is an expert in building science, energy modeling, and residential energy efficiency. As the Director of Technical Services at A&J Energy Consultants Inc., Jerry provides technical leadership in energy modeling, Ontario Building Code compliance, and building envelope optimization. His expertise supports CHBA Net Zero Energy projects, SB-12 Performance Path compliance, and Energy Star® New Homes certification.

With four years of industry experience, Jerry specializes in leveraging automation tools such as HOT2000, Excel VBA, and Python to enhance compliance processes and optimize energy performance. His commitment to innovation and efficiency ensures that A&J Energy Consultants Inc. delivers cutting-edge, sustainable building solutions.

Jacob marques, field technical team leader

Jacob is a highly skilled energy consultant specializing in sustainable building design, energy efficiency, and building science. As the field technical team leader at A&J Energy Consultants Inc., Jacob manages and trains a team of registered energy advisors, providing green building certification programs, energy modeling, and site inspections for Part 9 buildings.

With extensive experience in energy audits, airtightness testing, and building performance optimization, Jacob has worked on numerous residential and multi-unit projects across Southern Ontario. He is well-versed in building standards such as ERS, OBC-SB-10/12, TGS, and ASHRAE, ensuring high-quality energy assessments and compliance with industry best practices.

Jacob holds an Advanced Diploma in Sustainable Energy and Building Technology and is a certified LEED Green Associate. His passion for sustainability and technical expertise make him a valuable asset to A&J Energy Consultants Inc.’ mission of delivering energy-efficient solutions.

paradeep samaroo, advisor

Pradeep brings over 40 years of experience in the new home construction industry within the Greater Toronto Area, having held various trades and supervisory positions with many large volume builders. Over the last 15 years, he has transitioned into a consulting role, providing expert services to builder clients in several key areas. His expertise includes delivering Energy Star for New Homes and Savings by Design programs, conducting building airtightness training, offering PDI services, and developing comprehensive quality assurance procedures aimed at minimizing deficiencies. Pradeep also specializes in diagnosing and resolving homeowner comfort issues.

As a Registered Energy Advisor (REA), he has conducted hundreds of audits for single-family homes and Multi-Unit Residential Buildings (MURBs) under various rebate programs. Additionally, as a Registered Home Inspector, Pradeep has performed thousands of detailed home inspections, offering clients invaluable insights into their properties.

Pradeep is a member of the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors and holds both the RHI (Registered Home Inspector) and NCH (National Certificate Holder) designations, further highlighting his deep expertise in the field.

House Plan Analysis (Take-Off) Associate

Role Summary:
As a House Plan Analysis (Take-Off) Associate, you will play a crucial role in our energy modelling process. Your primary responsibility will be to read and analyze house plans, accurately collect geometry data, and enter it into the take-off spreadsheet for use in HOT2000 energy modelling. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow within the energy efficiency industry.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review architectural house plans and drawings.
  • Accurately collect and document house geometry data.
  • Input data into standardized take-off spreadsheets.
  • Collaborate with our energy modelling team to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Course Description:
Plan Assessment Analysis Preparation for HOT2000 Energy Modelling Training

This specialized training program is designed to help professionals learn the fundamentals of architectural design and conduct plan assessments for HOT2000 Energy Modelling. Participants will:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between architectural design and energy efficiency.
  • Learn to use our template to record house data accurately.
  • Generate HOT2000 files efficiently using our innovative HOT2Go Online tool.

 Details:

  • Investment: $599 + HST (maximum: 15 participants) for those interested in learning plan assessment.
  • Advanced Option: $1,599 + HST for four selected participants to work closely with us on five project files. This investment is guaranteed to be earned back within the first 12 months plus, you will return $1,000 of your investment after 1 year working with our team.
