Jack began his building science journey in 2004 with hands-on experience in low-rise residential construction, mastering a variety of skills, including framing, drywalling, and installing Hi-Velocity ductwork. This hands-on experience ignited his passion for energy-efficient housing, leading him to earn designations as a HRAI Residential Air System Design Technician and Residential Hydronics Design Technician.
20+ years later, Jack is now regarded as one of Canada’s most trusted experts in energy efficient housing. In addition to his role as a Board of Director at the Canadian Associations of Consulting Energy Advisors, he actively contributes to the industry by serving on:
- The Technical Committee for the Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA)
- The Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) – Net Zero Renovations Advisory Group
- EnergQuality Corp
- Natural Resources Canada ENERGY STAR for New Homes Standard

House Plan Analysis (Take-Off) Associate

Role Summary:
As a House Plan Analysis (Take-Off) Associate, you will play a crucial role in our energy modelling process. Your primary responsibility will be to read and analyze house plans, accurately collect geometry data, and enter it into the take-off spreadsheet for use in HOT2000 energy modelling. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow within the energy efficiency industry.
Responsibilities:
- Review architectural house plans and drawings.
- Accurately collect and document house geometry data.
- Input data into standardized take-off spreadsheets.
- Collaborate with our energy modelling team to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Course Description:
Plan Assessment Analysis Preparation for HOT2000 Energy Modelling Training
This specialized training program is designed to help professionals learn the fundamentals of architectural design and conduct plan assessments for HOT2000 Energy Modelling. Participants will:
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between architectural design and energy efficiency.
- Learn to use our template to record house data accurately.
- Generate HOT2000 files efficiently using our innovative HOT2Go Online tool.
Details:
- Investment: $599 + HST (maximum: 15 participants) for those interested in learning plan assessment.
- Advanced Option: $1,599 + HST for four selected participants to work closely with us on five project files. This investment is guaranteed to be earned back within the first 12 months plus, you will return $1,000 of your investment after 1 year working with our team.
